An EU Maritime Growth Plan for Sustainable maritime jobs, growth and competitiveness
18th February 2020 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Enhancing the employment of Europeans at sea and in the onshore maritime clusters
In October 2019, ECSA launched its proposal for a European maritime growth plan for sustainable maritime jobs, growth and competitiveness. ECSA wishes to ensure a thriving EU shipping industry, a strong skills base and the development of a world-class maritime cluster in Europe. It proposes a strategic EU framework providing a holistic and common EU vision for actions to be taken at the EU, national and local levels.
This event will discuss how to take forward the objectives of:
- Increasing the employment of Europeans at sea and in the onshore maritime clusters;
- Developing an attractive, smart, safe, social and sustainable quality shipping industry;
- A world class maritime cluster.
The growth plan builds upon the messages and calls by academics, stakeholders, the Commission, the European Parliament and also the Member States in the 2017 Council conclusions over the past years.
In view of the planned political discussions in Spring 2020 to set out the maritime strategy of this legislative period, this is a very timely debate. ECSA believes its growth plan should become a key priority for an EU Strategy for coordinated action to be developed over the next legislature.
Join us in this event to hear from and share your views views with key stakeholders in the industry.
